Structural Elements Mobilitation

THIS REFERS TO DIFFERENT METHODS USING HYDRAULIC JACKS TO TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY TRANSFER A STRUCTURE (OR PART OF IT) FOR MAINTENANCE OR RESTORATION PURPOSES.

Great flexibility for the choice of the equipment and standard solutions to site-specific problems enable a variety of applications.

BRIDGE JACKING

When the foundation and/or columns and/or service equipment of a bridge need non-routine maintenance, the original service and safety levels can be restored without any disrupting or dismantling.

The same applies to structural settlements.

The bridge jacking technique is rather easy but since the operations involved are critical, it has to be performed by well-trained personnel with extensive experience in this field.

First the sites providing a reaction against the structure are located or constructed below the structural element to be jacked, then jacks are installed and set up to lift it and the planned operations can be carried out.

BUILDING JACKING

The reasons for moving a part of a building are numerous: repairment of earthquake or settlement damage, rehabilitation of misaligned structural elements, etc. A high level of technical expertise is required in order to restore adequate static safety conditions.

Hydraulic jacks are used to lift individual damaged elements, which allows the original geometrical characteristics to be preserved: this is a radical method that produces lasting results and avoids operations that would just control the problem without completely solving it.

This method is also used for the mobilization of archaeological and historical pre-existences.
